The 2012-13 season is Torpedo Kutaisi's 21st season in Georgian Umaglesi Liga. Torpedo began the season on 12 July 2012, by involving in UEFA Europe League from first qualifying round: competing with FC Aktobe (Kazakhstan). There was 7-years await for fans - to come back in European tournaments. But, Torpedo didn't pass to the second qualifying round and was eliminated by Aktobe - 1:1 0:1. After unsuccessful playing, Manager Gia Geguchadze decided to build the new team, focused on young native players. So, they have got the youngest team in Umaglesi Liga. Firstly, they sold 4 most experienced, but old players (including captain David Gamezardashvili too, who was very popular). Geguchadze said, that for future sake - this season Torpedo would not be aiming for higher positions. That was annoying for fans, but as the league course presented, this team can fight for title. Torpedo will also compete in the domestic D. Kipiani Georgian Cup. As the Georgian Football Federation determined, Torpedo and other 3 teams (these 4 teams were competed in UEFA Cups) will involve in the tournament from last 16 in February. ==Pre-season and friendlies== Torpedo Kutaisi took the preparatory stage in Flachau, Austria. This meeting was determined as general trains for Europa League and national championship. By the time Torpedo played friendly matches against Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Steaua București and KF Skënderbeu Korçë in Austria.
